This new full length album was recorded and mixed at The DriveShed in Toronto, under the experienced and supportive guidance of producer Danny Greenspoon. As well as playing on every track, double bassist and guitarist Joe Phillips created magnificent arrangements for small string ensemble. Drew Jurecka played violin, Amy Laing played cello, Damon Dowbak is featured on mandocello, and Kim's daughters Roisin and Lesya Roberts provided beautiful backing vocals on one song. Supported so well, Kim's own unique piano stylings and richly recorded vocals provide the heart and soul of the album. The resulting recording is of the highest quality, with deep sound that draws the listener in.
The album has been released by Route 61 Music (Rome, Italy) and is being distributed worldwide, including all digital download sites. See www.route61music.com/kimerickson for more details.
Audiences who enjoy folk, jazz and classical fusions will want this recording.

LOOKING BACK Kim Erickson in Concert with the Angelic Upstart Ensemble
Kim and her Angelic Upstart Ensemble performed their inaugural concert April 12th, 2013 at a packed Unitarian Hall to great success.
Playing in the Ensemble were Damon Dowbak (mandolin/mandocello/guitar), Lorrina Belluz (violin), Anthony Bacon (cello), Richard Tribe (piano) and Martin Blanchet (double bass).
The extraordinary mix of Kim's original songs from the heart, diverse instrumental offerings by members of the group and music from around the world impressed the crowd and left some calling it "concert of the year".
Click here for a review of the concert as published in the May '13 issue of the Walleye, 'Thunder Bay's arts & culture alternative'.
Thank you to the Walleye for the opportunity to feature their review on this website.
Kim performing "Marieke", a Jacques Brel song, during the TBSO concert.
On November 11th and 12th, 2011, Kim Erickson was singing with the Thunder Bay Symphony Orchestra in a cabaret style program which was a tribute to Canadian veterans. Audiences journeyed back to the days of World War II with classics like Edith Piaf's "La Vie en Rose" and a medley of Vera Lynn hits, including "The White Cliffs of Dover", while honouring veterans of all eras with heart felt contemporary selections, including Kim's own "10,000 Miles" arranged by Joseph Phillips. The concert was an anniversary of sorts for Kim in her long relationship with the orchestra. She first performed with them in November 1991, and these were the 15th and 16th performances with them over 20 years. Conductor Daniel Bartholomew-Poyser proved to be a great support - sensitive, humourous, enthusiastic - and a great foil to Erickson's character work as Vera Lynn and Edith Piaf!
A Spanish Flavour
On December 3rd, 2011, Kim sang at a concert of Spanish classical and folk-based music, presented by Consortium Aurora Borealis, accompanied by guitarist Joseph Roy who also performed several solo guitar works. The program featured the music of DeFalla, Rodrigo, Tarrago, Villa-Lobos, Albeniz, Sor, Turina, Tarrega, and the poetry of Federico Garcia Lorca. Joseph and Kim broke the Consortium's attendance records!
